SiteGleam builds and hosts websites for small businesses. This page explains what information we handle and why, in plain language.
Information about businesses
To build a preview we use information a business has already made public: its website, its listing in public directories and maps, its posted hours, phone number, address, and public customer reviews. We use this to write the preview and to contact the business about it: one email, and at most one follow-up if the business looked at the preview. We don’t buy lists and we don’t sell this information.
If we email you about a preview, every message includes a working unsubscribe link and our mailing address. Unsubscribing removes you permanently and takes the preview down. If you ask us for a preview through this site, we use your email only to send it and to answer your replies. Replies you send us are read and answered by our automated system, which uses an AI model; we keep the thread so later replies are handled in context.
Photos and content
A preview shows photos from the business’s own public website where it has suitable ones, copied onto our hosting and used only on that business’s preview; otherwise it shows at most one licensed stock photo of the kind of work. If a business becomes a customer and sends us its own photos or logo, we use them only on that business’s site.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. We keep the records needed to run your subscription and for tax purposes.
Service providers
Our service providers (hosting, email delivery, payments and the AI model provider) handle this information on our behalf and only to run the service.
Website visitors
Sites we host may keep basic server logs (pages requested, approximate region, browser type) to keep them running. On a preview we have built for a business, we also note which pages were opened, for how long and how far they were scrolled, so we know whether the owner has seen it. No cookie is set for that. We don’t use advertising trackers on this site or on the sites we host. Contact-form submissions on a hosted site are delivered to that business’s inbox and stored only long enough to deliver them.
Your choices
- To stop hearing from us: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- To have a preview removed: use the “Remove this preview” link on the preview, or reply to our email.
- To get a copy of, correct, or delete information about your business: reply to any email from us, or write to team@mail.sitegleam.com. Every request is recorded and acknowledged by email, and carried out within 30 days. If your business has never paid us and you ask us to delete what we hold, that is done straight away instead: the preview comes down if one is still up, and your business’s name, address, phone number and the details of your old website are removed from the record. What we keep is your email address on our do-not-contact list, so that nothing is ever sent to it again; the preview’s own web address, which stays reserved so it can never be given to another business; and the record of your request and of the emails we’ve already exchanged, which we keep as our record of the correspondence. So that nobody else can change or remove your record, a request to do either has to come from the address we have on file for the business.
